Strawberries and Wine Tasting Bus Trip (June 18,
2010)
Exclusive to TEUCU members only! Members enjoyed our strawberries and wine tasting bus trip
on June 18, 2010. Our spring bus trip was once again a great success. It the
was the perfect day to visit a market, enjoy wine
tasting and have delicious strawberries. To start
off the tour we visited the Hamilton Farmers market.
It was originally founded in 1837 and is well known
for their farm fresh products. With an array of
delicious foods to choose from, our members enjoyed
fresh vegetables, fish and meat as well as fresh
baked goods, tropical good tangy cheeses and even
coffee and donuts. That afternoon we traveled to the
Hernder Estate Wineries in St Catherine’s, known for
their VQA and fruit wines, to take in their
incredible wine tasting tour. After the tour we
indulged in a buffet lunch at the winery. Last but
not least we visited Puddicombe Farms and were given
the opportunity to tour and taste their specialty
wines. We ended our trip with a strawberry
shortcake, and many of us browsed their general
store. Thank You to all who came out and made it

71st Annual General Meeting (April 9, 2010)
Another successful AGM was held on Friday April 9, 2010 at the Best
Western Hotel and Conference Centre. There were 120 members and guests in
attendance enjoying the business meeting (which included by-law changes),
two special guest speakers, door prizes, and great food. Thank you to all
who attended and a special thank you to all those who donated prizes for our

On October 15, 2009 at 500 Commissioners Street starting at 7 am, members
helped celebrate Credit Union week by telling TEUCU what their CU has done
for them, members who let us know what "My CU" has done for them received a
free gift. Members were also be able to meet with an insurance expert and
had a chance to ask all of their insurance questions and were entered into a
draw! |

October 14, 2009 Congratulations Diane!
The Co-operative Spirit
Recognition Awards, part of the Co-operative Conference
and Gala, celebrated 11 years of supporting the
co-operative sector. The event, held on October 14th
2009, was hosted by the Ontario Co-operative
Association. The Ontario Co-operative Association (On
Co-op) develops, unites and promotes co-operatives
throughout the province of Ontario. Their mission is to
link, cultivate and connect co-operatives.The Ontario
Co-operative Association has recognized outstanding
individuals and organizations in the co-operative sector
since its inception in 1999. In 2009, nine new
recipients were added to the Spirit Award “Hall of Fame”
in an extra-special ceremony. This year, TEUCU's very
own CEO, Diane Kocet was honoured with the Co-Operative
Innovator Award. The Co-operative Innovator award
honours recent co-operative or credit union initiatives.
Diane excels as a mentor to staff and members, and has
embraced social media to strengthen her credit union
community.

TEUCU Fall Bus Trip Day of Discovery Friday October
2, 2009
We travelled east out of the city making our way along one of Ontario’s
famous Apple Routes, we visited a local apple
producer and had an opportunity to buy farm fresh
apples and apple products. For lunch, we enjoyed a
roast beef carvery buffet with all the fixings at
Arthur’s Restaurant in Cobourg. Following lunch we
experienced a historical tour of the town of
Cobourg. We concluded our day with a visit to the
Hoselton Studios in Colborne, home of the buffed
aluminum sculptures. Here we had an opportunity to
purchase figurines at a discounted price.

TEUCU Online Survey Quiz Deadline (August 15, 2009)
We had 10 questions for you that can be answered by
researching our website
www.teucu.com.This
quiz was available from May 15, 2009 to August 15,
2009. The members were asked to please fill
out their first and last name if they wanted a
chance to win! The member with the most correct
answers won a $75 Gift Certificate for Shoppers Drug
Mart. In the event of a tie, first place finishers
were entered into a draw. Odds of winning depend on
the number of entries received. |

Applications Due for mySELF Optimizer Grant (August
7, 2009)
TEUCU is committed to providing our community with
opportunities for individuals to achieve their
personal, educational and vocational goals and to
become more responsible and productive members of
society. In an effort to provide our members with
opportunities to enhance their lives, TEUCU is
offering the TEUCU mySELF Optimizer Grant. To
encourage our members to succeed, the credit union
wants to award two $500.00 grants to help fund the
expenses for members in their pursuit of growth
initiatives. |

(August 7,2009)
TEUCU is dedicated to contributing to our members’
well being and personal development and as such we
want to help provide students with opportunities to
pursue post-secondary education. In an effort to
prepare young people for the future and encourage
them to become contributing and successful members,
the credit union wants to award a $1,000.00 grant to
help fund the expenses for students in their pursuit
of higher education. |

TEUCU Spring Bus Trip
A day of sunshine and great fun was had by all
those in attendance on this bus trip. Participants
were treated to a scenic tour of Northumberland
County! The beautiful weather and lilacs in full
bloom were only part of what made our day great. We
stopped at The Empire Cheese Factory, who were Grand
Champions of the Cheddar Cheese Division at the 2008
Royal Winter Fair. Here, there were free samples and
a chance to purchase their lovely cheese products.
We had a wonderful home made lunch at Chubby's
Restaurant. The delicious hot buffet was just
scrumptious! We were able to enjoy carved roast beef
and chicken along with all the fixin's!
Next stop was the World Famous
Chocolate Factory. We found enough delicious deals
and bargains to satisfy any sweet-tooth. Then, we
were off to Glover's Farms where we could purchase
farm fresh vegetables and home made crafts, quilts
and collectables. Not to mention that throughout our
bus ride we had the pleasure of Peter Brotherhood,
our tour guide, and his extensive knowledge of
Northumberland County. Peter is a retired teacher
and a specialist in both Geography and History and
we couldn't wait to learn more about this beautiful
countryside in Toronto's backyard. His commentary
during our ride was lively, interesting and amusing.
There were also some lucky draw winners on this
trip. Kyle Brisbane, Robert Davies, Lena O'Leary,
Sharon Wilson, Mary Wagler, and Joanne Tata all won
Gift Cards during the ride. Special thanks goes out
to Lori Williams and our bus-driver Fred, from
Parkinsons Tours. Fred's expert driving was
demonstrated many times throughout our day as he
weaved his way in and out of tight places for us.

AGM 2009 (April 3, 2009)
On April 3, 2009 members gathered together at the
Days Inn to participate in our Annual General
Meeting. Prizes were won, elections were held, and
great food and time were had by all. We had a
special guest speaker in honour of our 70th
Anniversary. Thank-you to all those who donated
prizes for our meeting, and to The Toronto Hydro
Stars for providing us with a framed Jersey in
honour of their Canadian Power & Electric Hockey
Championship win. We are proud sponsors. We have

great feature of our 70th Anniversary meeting was
our guest speaker Fiorella. Fiorella gave us a great
motivational speech which showed us the value of
setting goals and keeping positive. Below you will
find more information about Fiorell and a link to

Diane Kocet wins mentorship award!
TEUCU General Manager Diane Kocet was
awarded the 2009 Alan Lanctot Mentorship Award at
Central 1’s (formerly Credit Union Central of
Ontario) annual conference on March 6, 2009.This
province-wide award is named in honour of a true
mentor to many within the system who passed away in
2005, the Allan Lanctôt Mentorship Award has been
established to recognize an outstanding individual
who has made a valuable contribution not just to the
credit union system, but to the people who make up
the credit union system. |

Our very own General Manager Diane Kocet has
been honoured with the 2008 Credit Union
Professional of the Year 2008 by the Credit Union
Professionals Association (CUPA) and Level Five
Strategic Partners Inc. This Canada-wide award also
recognized Diane’s high ethical standards and her
dedication to education and professional development
for both herself and her staff. Diane received her
award at the Annual CUPA Conference at the Fairmont
Royal York Hotel on November 6, 2008.
